Eligibility Criteria for India Post GDS 2026
Before you apply, ensure you meet the following requirements:
1. Educational Qualification
- 10th Pass: You must have passed the Secondary School Examination (Class 10) from a recognized board.
- Core Subjects: Passing marks in Mathematics and English are mandatory.
- Local Language: You must have studied the local language of the applied postal circle at least up to the 10th standard.
- Other Skills: Basic knowledge of computers and the ability to ride a bicycle are required.
2. Age Limit (As of Feb 16, 2026)
- Minimum Age: 18 Years
- Maximum Age: 40 Years
- Age Relaxation: * SC/ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years

Salary Structure (TRCA Slab)
The salary for GDS employees is provided in the form of Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA):
- Branch Postmaster (BPM): ₹12,000 – ₹29,380
- ABPM / Dak Sevak: ₹10,000 – ₹24,470
Note: Apart from the basic pay, employees are eligible for Dearness Allowance (DA) and other periodic increments as per government norms.
Selection Process: How Does It Work?
The selection for India Post GDS 2026 is purely merit-based.
- Shortlisting: A system-generated merit list is prepared based on Class 10 marks (converted to percentages).
- No Written Exam: There is no entrance test or interview.
- Document Verification (DV): Shortlisted candidates will be called for physical verification of original documents.
